Color Me Enhanced - Feng Shui, the Bagua Map and Color Selection

In Feng Shui, colors are often used to enhance the properties of the nine areas of the bagua map. Imagine your home as a large square, divided into three rows (front, middle and rear) with three squares (left, middle and center) each. The bagua map is interpreted from the orientation of your front door, even if you use a garage door or side entrance primarily. By using the appropriate colors in the appropriate areas of your home, you can help to bring change to your life.

Front Row:

Left side: Knowledge & Self-Cultivation area.

Use black, blues and greens to enhance learning and personal growth in your life.

Center: Career area.

Use black and other darkly-toned colors in this vital area to help improve your career situation- whether you are interested in getting that promotion, finding a new job or being more content with your work situation.

Right side: Helpful People & Travel area.

Use white, grays and black to help increase the number or quality of helpful people in your life, and to encourage safe, enjoyable travel opportunities.

Middle Row:

Left side: Health & Family area.

Use blues and greens to help encourage continued or improved health and family relationships in your life.

Center: Center area.

Use yellows and earth tones to improve the overall peace and tranquility of your home and life.

Right side: Creativity & Children area.

Use white and pastels to increase your creativity, overcome writer’s/artist’s block, and also when you would like to become pregnant or otherwise add to your family.

Rear Row:

Left side: Wealth & Prosperity area

Use blues, purples and reds to support personal wealth and prosperity growth.

Center: Fame & Reputation area

Use reds in this area to improve your personal fame in your chosen career field and your overall reputation within your community or your career.

Right side: Love & Marriage area

Use reds, pinks and white in this area to improve your love life and romantic relationships.

Now that you know which colors can help enhance the nine bagua areas, apply that knowledge to your living space. Try painting the walls, and adding accents like decorative pillows, blankets, indoor fountains, colored glass or collectibles. Throw rugs, wall hangings, silk or live flower arrangements, candles, curtains, placemats and tablecloths, and even shower curtains are other easy-to-implement feng shui color cures which will help activate energy and enhance your life.

10 Great Feng Shui Tips For Your Business Or Home Office to Bring Harmony & Wealth

Most of us spend a lot of time in office for work. Regardless of whether it is in your employer’s office or your home office, the office environment can at times be very challenging. Relationship with your colleagues or business partners is a very important factor to unpleasant office politics.

While you are working hard and smart to be a better employee and making yourself more valued at the workplace you should enlist the help of Feng Shui to enhance your career success. Feng shui is about balancing the chi or energy around your surroundings. By balancing the energy in your environment, your own energy will be in harmony, and you will draw to you, people and opportunities that reflect this balance.

Here are 10 great feng shui tips to help create harmony at the workplace and to make your career advancement smooth sailing:

1. Good Support Behind The Back Of Your Sitting Position

The most important feng shui tips in the office is to make sure that you are seated with a good support behind your back. It is extremely important that your back faces a wall or some solid surface. You must never sit with your back facing a door or windows as this makes you vulnerable to “backstabbing” and “betrayals” in the office. If the back of your sitting position is a window, it is very inauspicious as it represents a lack of support. Close the windows behind you or hang a painting of mountains behind your back to provide you with good support.

2. Clearing The Clutter In Your Office

Clutter like unfinished projects, unused papers, unresolved works, disorganized office stationery and files are extremely bad feng shui to you. Your career will become a mess and you stand no chance of any career advancements. Clutter is like emotional constipation - it bogs you down. By clearing your clutter and arranging your office desk nicely, you create space for new things and your energy and creativity will increase.

3. Choose Your Office Desk In Your Success Position

Place your desk in your success position. Your success position will bring you great success and awesome career advancement in your career. You can know your success position by calculating your KUA number (or Star Number). Our feng shui website teaches you on how to calculate your person KUA number and how to apply feng shui in your work and career to bring great income luck and success. In addition, the ideal placement for your computer and desk is in a position that allows you to see the door of your office. If this is not possible, you can restore good Feng Shui by placing a small mirror on your desk that gives you a clear view of the door.

4. Place A Healthy Small Potted Plant On Your Desk

A plant will bring life into your workspace and will also absorb toxins in the air. My recommendation is to place a Money Plant on your office desk to attract career luck and income luck. The money plant can also help you ward off office politics and unpleasant things in your working environment. A plant on your table is also able to boost you creativity. Research has shown that you will be happier when there is greenery on your table.

5. Avoid Sitting Directly Facing Someone Else

Do try to avoid sitting at a work desk that is directly facing someone else at your opposite. This is bad feng shui as if you are seated in a position where you constantly face another person, there will certainly be accumulation of bad and confrontational Chi enery between the both of you. Consequently, this will definitely lead to conflicts and unpleasant arguments.

6. Do Not Sit Under A Strong Exposed Beam

You will be working under great pressure if there is a structural beam or bright light above where you are working. The bright beam or light will make you irritable and do your work impulsively. One good way to overcome the situation is to renovate the ceiling so that it is flat.

7. Separate Your Workspace In Your Bedroom

Feng shui do not recommend having a workspace in your bedroom as the bedroom is a place of rest. If you must have your workspace in your bedroom, try to partition it off with a screen. You can place a curtain or a screen to separate your work desk with your bed. In feng shui, work and sleep are two conflicting energies: Work is very yang and sleep is very yin, hence both must not mix together. In addition, a relaxing sleep will enhance your work productivity.

8. Display Crystals At Your Work Desk

In feng shui, crystals are great tool to absorb negative energies at work. If you want to avoid office politics and to make sure your career is smooth-sailing, you should display small crystal balls on your desk to ensure that everything goes smoothly at work.

9. Use Only One Door In Your Office

Do use only one door in your office, if there are more, keep them closed. This is because you only want your wealth and money luck to come to you in the only door and will not escape from other doors. Use only one door in your office if you don’t want your money to escape.

10. Carry A Jade Cicada With You

If you want to block off any office politics in the office, buy a jade cicada and carry it in your bags or hide it under your files and documents so that it would not be seen. Jade Cicada is a powerful feng shui tool to help you avoid confrontations and conflicts in the office. It is also able to bring good luck to your working environment.

Feng Shui Placement of Water Features

Would you like to use the water element in Feng Shui to create balance, harmony and health in your environment? Feng Shui is the study, understanding and manipulation of wind and water energy. Placing a water feature indoors is very much a modern day practice with ancient principals.

There are some important factors to consider when placing your water features around your space. The front door is important in Feng Shui. It is the main entrance a house and whatever energy comes through effects the rest of the house, the people in it, and your fortune. To protect the front door from being hurt by bad external energy, have a water feature positioned nearby. When placed on the left near to your front door the water feature can bring good luck. Never have a water feature facing out of your home or office or have water on both sides of your main door.

There are three directions which can benefit from water, the east, southeast and north. To enhance luck position your water feature in the southeast area of your home or office. Make sure that your water, river, ponds, or drains are in full view of the front door as much as possible. Try to keep the positive Chi created from fountains, ponds or bodies of water from escaping outwards from your house or yard. If you have a river or stream on your property water flowing past the back of the property suggests missed opportunities. Try to have the water follow a meandering course rather then flowing off your property like an arrow taking beneficial energy with it. It is not advisable to place a water fountain in the south which is connected to fame and reputation as well as the fire element. Moving water is more masculine Yang while still water is more feminine Yin. In general never put Yang water into an environment where there needs to be Yin energy, and vice versa, or it may cause problems.

Fast moving water has little place in the bedroom for sleeping. However near the front door Yang water attracts good luck, conversation and lively energy. A gazing bowl of still water makes little sense when used by a cash register if you are trying to create more activity and movement. These are general guidelines of fountain placement that can be used as springboards for your own cures. If you feel that a fountain would work well in a particular space your feelings on the matter are more important then any rules you may have read.

Feng Shui Your Financial Worries Away - 5 Easy Steps to Attract Prosperity

Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of placing items in a location for maximum balance, harmony and ch’i, orenergy, flow has been used for centuries to help people improve their lives. One of the areas which Feng Shui can help with is personal finances. By following the 5 easy Feng Shui cures outlined below, you will attract prosperity and wealth into your life!

1. Keep money from going down the drain. Literally. Cover or close the drains in your bathtubs, showers, and sinks to prevent the flow of positive ch’i out of your house and into the sewer system. Sure, the sewer system could benefit from the ch’i, but taking steps to keep it in your house will help improve the energy of your house overall, including the financial energy. This simple, powerful step can immediately increase the ch’i in your home.

2. Locate the wealth and prosperity areas of your home. Visualize your apartment or house as a giant square, divided into 9 equal areas (3 rows of 3 squares each). Sketch out your living space on paper if you prefer something concrete. According to the bagua map, wealth and prosperity dwell in the rear left hand corner (when looking into your home from your front door). Make a note of which room it is. Don’t worry if your home is not a perfect square- few are. Approximate as closely as possible where it would be. In my own home, the wealth and prosperity area is in my oldest son’s room. I have still applied the Feng Shui cures with success, and it still looks like a child’s room.

3. Locate your power prosperity area. The power prosperity area of your home can be found by applying the bagua map within the wealth and prosperity area you found in step 2. Stand in the doorway facing the area (or imagine a doorway, if it is an open space), and divide the room into a 3 x 3 square as in step 2. The rear left hand corner will be the wealth and prosperity section of the wealth and prosperity area of your home: your power prosperity area! Make a note of it.

4. Apply Feng Shui cures to the wealth and prosperity area. First, look at the area. Is it clean and organized, or messy and cluttered? If it is messy and cluttered, ch’i cannot flow freely through the area and attract prosperity. Make any necessary repairs in the room. Broken blinds, squeaky door hinges, or holes in the wall detract from your pleasure in the room, and bring negative energy, taking away positive ch’i from the space.

5. Apply Feng Shui cures to the power prosperity area. Faceted crystals hung in the corner of the room help ch’i flow gracefully throughout the space, attracting prosperity. Wind chimes, particularly those that have a pleasant, gentle sound and a design or shape that signifies prosperity to you in some manner (for example, shaped like a coin, has the color green in it) will also help bring positive energy and increase ch’i flow in this vital area of your home. Consider placing a tabletop indoor fountain in the area to bring the soothing sounds of nature indoors, and aid in ch’i flow. Add a decorative bowl filled with coins to represent the prosperity you are asking the universe to provide for you, so that the ch’i may flow over it and stimulate your personal finances.

By following the above steps and improving the ch’i flow in your home, particularly in the wealth and prosperity areas and your power prosperity area, you can expect your financial picture to begin to improve within weeks. Feng Shui, coupled with intent, is a powerful tool to bring harmony, balance and prosperity to your life.

Feng Shui House Numbers - What is Your House Telling You?

Feng shui house numbers, like all numbers in feng shui, carry significance. Numbers can enhance the characteristics of a space. Because feng shui deals with single digits only, the easiest way to determine your feng shui house number is to add the numbers together.

Let’s say your address is ‘1257 Elm St’ Simply add 1+2+5+7 = 15. Then add 1+6 (the numbers in 15) to get 6. Take that number and refer to the meanings below.

Or you can take this one step further and assign a number value to each letter in your street name, and add that as well. This is an even better indicator. Here the cipher for that:

A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=1, K=2, L=3, M=4, N=5, O=6, P=7, Q=8, R=9, S=1, T=2, U=3, W=4, X=5, Y=6, Z=7.

Finishing the example above, the math would look like: 1+2+5 + 7 = 15, 1+5 = 6, then E (first letter of Elm) =5, L=3, and M=4. Add 6 (the number already derived) to your house name numbers: 6+5+3+4 = 18, 1+8 = 9. In this case your feng shui house number would be 9.

What Those Numbers Mean

One: Independence, new beginnings, oneness with life, self-development, individuality, progress and creativity

Two: Duality, balance of yin and yang, polarities, attraction, good for couples, balance and marriage of opposites.

Three: Mind, Body and Spirit; the Trinity; expression; communication; fun; optimistic; expansive; and creative

Four: Foundation building, security, the elements of the four directions, discipline, organization, productivity; work, service

Five: Freedom, change, passion, curiosity, excitement, fun, adventurous, impulsive

Six: Love, home, beauty and the arts, generous, caring and nurturing, children

Seven: The inner life, mysticism. The seven chakras, religion, spiritual ritual and ceremony, the path of solitude; contemplation, meditation

Eight: Power on the physical plane, material prosperity, abundance, leadership

Nine: Completion, humanitarianism, selflessness, wisdom, compassion
